Pyrrolidine, also known as tetrahydropyrrole, is a saturated five-membered heterocyclic ring, which is miscible with water. Pyrrolidine exists in many alkaloids and drug molecules, such as kappa opioids, antagonists of dopamine D4 receptors, and HIV reverse transcriptase inhibitors.
AbbVie announced positive top-line results from SELECT-GCA, a Phase 3, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, showing upadacitinib (RINVOQ®; 15 mg, once daily) in combination with a 26-week steroid taper regimen achieved its primary endpoint of sustained remission from week 12 through week 52 in adults with giant cell arteritis (GCA). Upadacitinib is a JAK inhibitor that is being studied in several immune-mediated inflammatory diseases.
